Symbiotic bio-energy Port Integration with Cities by 2020 – EPIC

AVMap GIS S.A. implemented the “Bioresource Digital Display Tool & Mind Maps” platform on behalf of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) as part of the project “Symbiotic bio-energy Port Integration with Cities by 2020” (EPIC2020), co-funded by the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) program of the European Union.

The platform supports:

  • Cartographic visualization of the project’s implementation areas, showcasing the bioenergy flows between entities within the symbiotic network in industrial ports.
  • Mind map visualization to represent the network dynamics.

Objectives of the System:

The platform serves as a publicity tool for the project while providing investors with valuable tools and information about:

  1. Available construction areas within the port.
  2. Infrastructure networks, such as heating and natural gas systems.
  3. Existing companies involved in biomass import or export.
  4. Import/export connections, both inland and maritime.
  5. Bioenergy and biomass potential of each location concerning its surroundings.

Technology:

The system is built on the MyGIS polymorphic platform, fully customized to meet the project’s specific requirements. It provides a robust, interactive, and informative tool designed to enhance investment opportunities and support sustainable development within the industrial port ecosystems.
